Magnificent Bugs Zoo Exhibition

CLIENT → Helsinki Zoo Korkeasaari, Finland

PROJECT SCOPE → Exhibition’s visual identity, signage, activity leaflets, wayfinding and guiding signs

Insects can evoke very mixed reactions. The exhibition materials for the Helsinki Zoo exhibition needed to be friendly and approachable as well as scientifically accurate and educational.

I designed and illustrated the Magnificent Bugs exhibition’s signage, as well as guide signs, similarly to the Dinosaurs Expo but with a distinct visual identity tailored to the new subject.

The challenge of this project was to present bugs anatomically correctly, but in a fascinating rather than intimidating way. I used illustration, color, and composition to create a sense of curiosity and approachability while maintaining scientific accuracy.

The signage system helped visitors navigate the exhibition intuitively and created an engaging learning experience for audiences of all ages.
